Introducing Nyora Studio
In 2003, Nyora Studio (Nyora) opened its doors for the very first time. Located in Eltham, on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. Nyora Studio is an arts and crafts centre, a teaching and learning space that has hosted thousands of people.
What was once an orchard packing shed is now a creative studio for many who come to learn, teach or participate in the artist in residence program. The studio is the first space you’ll see when you visit Nyora. Look for the big red doors.
Out the back you’ll find workshops where the magic continues, furniture making, coach building, sculpture and more.
The Nyora experience, changing lives one at a time
Owned and operated by artists Emmy Mavroidis and Aldo Bilotta, Nyora is regarded by many as a special place, its unique in many ways.
While Nyora offers workshops in life drawing, sculpture, printing, individual mentoring, an artist in residence program and more. It’s the passion and commitment of Emmy and Aldo to give their students, teachers and visitors the best possible experience.
It is this, that sets them apart from others, the Nyora experience, changing lives one at a time.Letters of support from former students, leave no doubt that the Nyora experience really does transform lives, here’s what they said.
“… a place where artists are nurtured and they’re individuality honoured and supported, Nyora’s influence has had a powerful and far-reaching effect, with many of its teaching artists and artists-in-residence establishing careers at the forefront of Australia’s contemporary art scene.” – E.Wagner, former student
“Nyora Studio has been a highlight in my creative life and attending workshops there since 2009 has been responsible for seeing me re-establish my art career, supported and encouraged me to expand my way of seeing; and then launch me into a full university pathway as a mature aged student.” – A.Sinclair, former student
“As a mentor, Emmy is humble, fun, perceptive and highly professional. She helped me to extend my skills and more importantly, build my confidence as an artist. This has been crucial to my recent successes. Her guidance and feedback on my work and her emotional support gave me the confidence to enter my paintings into competitions. As a result, I have been a finalist in 3 national art competitions.” – S.Raz, former student
