This is a three day sculpture workshop.. 

Day one:  (Sat, 23rd Feb)

You will learn how to begin to sculpt the human head.
Study the shape and form of the head by hand building a in clay.
Blocking out the head shape.
Develop an understanding the proportions of the human head and learn about the subtle complexities of form and anatomy in the face.
You will work from direct observation with a life model present.

Day two: (Sun, 24th Feb)

Creating the character of the sitter.
Learn techniques on how to sculpt eyes, the mouth, nose, ears and hair.
How to keep everything in proportion.
Finishing. 

Day three: (Sat, 2nd March)

Let sculpture dry until he’s leather hard (one week)
Hollow all parts out
Get sculpture off the armature
Finish sculpture

Allow to dry slowly 

The objective of this workshop is to prepare your clay head study for firing in a ceramic kiln.  We do not provide a firing service at Nyora Studio Gallery.

Life Drawing to Monotype Workshop  – Looking at Degas Monotypes and the Figure

This life drawing workshops introduces the participants to monotype techniques. During both sessions there will be a life model present which will further heighten the value and experience of this direct and painterly form of printing. 

We will examine examples of Edgar Degas monotypes of the figure.

Participants will learn about:

  • plate preparation
  • types of papers
  • Direct drawing
  • gestural mark making techniques
  • tonal mark making techniques
  • stencils /shape
  • Each participant will produce their own series of unique prints during the life drawing session.
